TVXOHOF, JANUARY 2021 - UNCLE TONOOSE

Here we are with the first inductee into the Television Crossover Hall of Fame for a new (and hopefully better) year….

UNCLE TONOOSE

The anniversary of Hans Conried’s death in 1982 was a few days ago.  He was only 64.  I say “only” because his make-up for playing Danny Williams’ Uncle Tonoose made him look so much older.  Even without the make-up he looked old. On a personal level, this O’Bservation is disturbing; I loved Uncle Tonoose as a little kid and now here I am, older than Hans Conried.

From Wikipedia:
He also appeared as Uncle Tonoose on Danny Thomas' sitcom ‘Make Room for Daddy’.

From 1955 to 1964, Conried made 21 guest appearances as Danny Thomas' Uncle Tonoose in ‘Make Room for Daddy’ on ABC and then CBS.

From Tom Shales of the Washington Post:
The first character who pops into many people's heads when they think of the show, however, is bellicose Uncle Tonoose (Hans Conried), a madcap Lebanese relative who appeared only occasionally. Thomas really had an Uncle Tonoose and lived with him and an Aunt Julia when growing up the son of Lebanese immigrants in Toledo, Ohio.

A perfect choice to honor a Classic TV character in January, 38 years after the death of the actor who immortalized him.

Here are the shows which made Tonoose eligible for the TVXOHOF:

1955-1964
The Danny Thomas Show
23 episodes

 1967
The Danny Thomas Hour
- Make More Room for Daddy (1967)

1970-1971
Make Room for Granddaddy
3 episodes

Four TVXOHOF members in one shot:
Rusty Williams, Danny & Kathy Williams, Uncle Tonoose

Here's a theoretical possibility – Tonoose knew Max Klinger back in Toledo.  Just something to consider; it has no bearing on his eligibility.

Welcome to the Hall, Uncle Tonoose!
