ADMIRAL GEORGE W. ANDERSON, JR.
As Chief of Naval Operations in charge of the United States' quarantine of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, Admiral Anderson distinguished himself in the Navy's conduct of those operations; Time magazine featured him on the cover and called him "an aggressive blue-water sailor of unfaltering competence and uncommon flair." However, [he had a] contentious relationship with Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara, who viewed Anderson's behavior as mutiny. McNamara sabotaged his 36-year Navy career, and cut his service as Chief of Naval Operations short in 1963. Many had believed Anderson's next appointment would have been to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
After losing his commission over disrespect shown to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara during the Cuban missile crisis, President John F. Kennedy appointed Admiral Anderson Ambassador to Portugal, where he served for three years and encouraged plans for the peaceful transition of Portugal's African colonies to independence. He later returned to Government service from 1973 to 1977 as member and later chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.BCnU!

David Francis Powers (April 25, 1912 – March 27, 1998) was Special Assistant and assistant Appointments Secretary to President of the United States John F. Kennedy. Powers served as Museum Curator of the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum from 1964 until his retirement in May 1994. Powers was a military veteran who had served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945. Powers was also a very close, personal friend of John F. Kennedy.
During the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Powers and Kenneth P. O'Donnell were riding in the Secret Service follow-up car directly behind the presidential limousine and are seen in the famous Zapruder film. Before the assassination, Powers had captured personal movie film footage showing the presidential limousine and Dallas crowds with his own movie camera until he ran out of film at 12:17 p.m., shortly before reaching Dealey Plaza. This film, now known as the "Powers film," was first made public in November 1996.
