MULTIPLE MAIGRETS
In that post about the way HBO will be farming out 'In Treatment' to other countries, I mentioned how certain characters have been recast over and over again for TV productions.

Alas, Maigret is not a well known character in the U.S. I wish it were otherwise, and it should be. The only television treatment I've ever seen of him was the BBC series, with Michael Gambon as Maigret. (and I think it shot in Budapest, as a city that might best be taken for Paris of a few score years ago) I thought it was excellent.
