Rae Cummings is a soap opera character played by Linda Dano. She first appeared on One Life to Live in 1978 as a minor character. She left the show in 1980 and returned almost two decades later, in 1999, as a practicing psychologist. Rae was involved in many major storylines and in 2000 she was given an extraordinary one of her own. In a search for her long-lost daughter(taken away at birth), the character of Rae crossed over into the other three ABC soaps.
In All My Children, Rae discovered that she was the daughter of Myrtle Fargate. In Port Charles, she found an important clue. Back on One Life to Live, she discovered her daughter was Skye Chandler (who had crossed over from All My Children). Rae ventured on to General Hospital, where she and Skye were involved with the Quartermaine family. Rae then wandered back to One Life to Live, blackmailed and married Asa Buchanan and finally left on a world cruise with her lover, John Sykes, in 2004.
