Frank McCourt has died. He was the Pulitzer-winning author of 'Angela's Ashes' and 'Tis'. He provided his own televersion, a member of the League of Themselves, in the "Thursday's Child" episode of 'Cosby'. (A foster child in Erica's class wanted to move in with the Lucas family.) And I'm probably wrong about this, since I can't find proof anywhere online, but I think he may also have appeared once in 'All My Children' with his brother Malachy.....

He was a great author. we miss him.
May he rest in peace.
It was 'One Life To Live'. Malachy had come to the end of his run as a villain named Kenneally, and was trying to get away from his criminal cohorts. Frank played himself, in town for a book signing. Kenneally used the crowd at the bookstore to lose his shadow, but not before having an in-joke laden confab with Frank:
MMC: "I'd like you to sign this for my brother."
FMC: "Is your brother a writer?"
MMC: " He fancies himself such."
(Qoutes approximate.)
I think I still have this one on tape.
Thank you, Mike! I should have come to you straightaway for the information! You're an amazing resource!
Folks, Mike's site TVTango is listed to the left there in my links. You should check it out!
UH, Toby... I'm not the Mike at TV Tango. In fact that's the first I've ever heard of that site. I'm just a civilian, and apparently there are more Mikes in here than at my Catholic school in the '60s.Jus to set things straight...
Well, that's embarrassing. Still, not unusual for this Swiss-cheese memoried fellow. I know where the confusion began though - I wrote to the Mike of TV Tango about helping out Brent McKee with his Humperdinck question, and a day or so later you responded with your own answers. I guess I just blended the two of you together in what's left of my mind.....
Still and all, based on those comments of yours I read over there and your help here, you are a TV trivia force to be reckoned with.
So, sorry for the confusion, but great thanks, nevertheless.....
