Today we enter Round Two of the Sitcom Star Wars competition being held by the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville. The initial group of 64 contenders have been halved and it appears that for the most part, the voters went with the great classic characters.
It was sad to see some of the greats fall by the wayside, like Dr. Bob Hartley (aka Dick Louden), as well as Schultz, Klinger, Fish, and Jethro. (Granny might have fared better as a rep for 'The Beverly Hillbillies.)
My personal heart-breaker was having to choose between Rob Petrie and Mary Richards, and I thought it looked for sure as if Mayr would lose. But she survived the challenge to throw her cap into the air for at least one more round.
The biggest upset to my mind was that of Ed Norton's loss to Jack Tripper. As Vizzini would say, that's inconceivable!
So here we are, round two, with a hardened crew of 32 playuhs ready to do battle. You have until Thursday at midnight to enter and play, with the results leading to Round Three to be announced on Sunday.
