The Doctor exists in the Tooniverse, there's no denying that. Some of the lost episodes have been recreated in animated form, and "Dreamland", an adventure with the Tenth Incarnation of the Doctor was released as a mini-feature film to DVD. And he's appeared in TV shows like 'The Simpsons'.
The animation style has varied widely in style, but if this was accepted as canon for Capaldi's animated portrayal, it would be quite different in tone as well......
