Whenever Hollywood needed to show an authentic scene about itself in Television, two of its biggest supporters usually were recruited to play themselves: reporter/columnist Army Archerd and Johnny Grant, who was the honorary mayor of Hollywood.Grant died just before 7p.m. yesterday, apparently of natural causes at the age of 84.
Grant was perhaps best known as the host alongside more than 500 celebrities he inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Among the TV shows he appeared in as himself were:
"Action" - Pilot
"Buddy Faro" - The Curse of the Faro
"China Beach" - Chao Ong
"The Lucy Show" - Lucy Goes to a Hollywood Premiere
"77 Sunset Strip" - Downbeat
