THE WHONICORNS

Well, the Doctor does travel through Time.  And it's always a possibility that he speaks Unicorn.  So he probably knows something about them, which means we should take his advice.

But they do look so forlorn as they beg near the bank downtown and rummaging through trash cans for cans and bottles now that the return deposit has gone up as of today to 10 cents from a nickel....

REMEMBERING ADRIC

MEME MUSINGS - WEEPING ANGELS IN OUTER SPACE

Gowron was a master of the glare, but the Weeping Angels were patient.  Eventually, he would need to blink and not even his bat’leth would be able to stave off the touch of one of the Angels in that zeptosecond in which he blinked.

To me, the more interesting question would be where Gowron would have ended up.  It seems that each angel had a different period of time and location to which their victims would be transported.  The Angel who fed off the unrealized life potential of Amy and Rory sent them both to Manhattan, 1938.  Luckily they eluded that building which served as a feeding pen for the Angels.

Could the Angels only send their victims back to a particular span of Time, and only to a specified radius of regions in proximity to their current location?  The Angel who claimed Kathy Nightingale as a victim sent her to Hull, England, in 1920.  But of that quartet of Angels, the one who attacked DS Billy Shipton must have been a young one who could only send him back to 1969 and no farther than the immediate environs of London.

I think an Angel would be bound by some kind of planetary energies to keep their victims trapped in the Past of whatever planet where they were located.  But if out in space, on the move in a spaceship, I would think being touched by an Angel would be an automatic death sentence.

Not that Chancellor Gowron had to worry about “living to death” because of an Angel.  He was killed in a duel with Lt. Commander Worf because of Gowron’s dishonorable activities against Klingon General Martok.*  But it would be interesting to see what would happen if an Angel did send a victim back in Time while on board a spacecraft.

* O'Bservation, it could be that he met a Weeping Angel in a future timeline and sent back to the time of his appearances in Star Trek': The Next Generation'.  There, he tried to alter his future, only to be killed in the past, perhaps even before he was actually was born....

BARBIE/DOCTOR WHO SYNERGY

The benefits recognized early on that it could only benefit them when it came to publicity if they tipped their cap to the summer's mega-hit "Barbie".

Especially since one of the many Kens in the movie was Ncuti Gatwa, who had been cast to be the Fifteenth Incarnation of the Doctor....

MEMES TO AN END - GREATNESS

A valid criticism....

Mark Huegerich:
Nice; though I think one could argue that it is the Time Lord who was born great, and the detective who achieved greatness by building a reputation for himself.

TEN & FOURTEEN

It's just a promo picture, but it captures the subtle differences between both Incarnations.  A regenerated Time Lord changes more than just his physical appearance and his wardrobe tastes.  All of the quirks in his previous personality should be excised and replaced with new ones.

It wasn't noticeable at first, but I think I have it pegged.  The Tenth Incarnation was a go-getter, excitable, eager to explore.  He was wiling to take risks, sometimes as odd yet simple as analyzing foreign matter by tasting it.

Meanwhile, Fourteen, being older, far older, was slower to respond, probably due to his overwhelming suspicions brought on by the mystery of regaining his previous visage.  He was more cynical than Ten.

I don't know if we'll see Fourteen in action ever again, but should he choose to take Rose Noble as his companion, she could go a long way toward relieving him of the weariness resting on his billion-year-old soul; perhaps even bringing him closer to his old self.

But it's doubtful that he would ever return to full normality....

WALLOW IN YOUR WEIRDNESS. IT'S JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!

COMING SOON! THE 5 TENTH DOCTORS!

To which I say:

"No more, please; I think we have quite enough as it is!"

In fact, forget the Valeyard and let's skip making Tennant the Curator while we're at it.  We already have a plethora of unshared adventures for the Actual Tenth Incarnation which Future writers will discover; over in some parallel TV Universe, the Meta-Crisis Doctor is probably raising a family with the original Rose; and now the Fourteenth Incarnation will be puttering underfoot in Donna's life.

If anything, take the TARDIS II away from the Fourteenth.  It's a crutch.  If anybody must go back to the well to do a story about him post-Bigeneration, have him investigate local mysteries for Kate Stewart at UNIT in the London area.  Bring in Donna sometimes, but also call upon Mel, and Shirley, and Malcolm, maybe even Martha and Mickey.  But leave Time and Space to Fifteen.

Just my two quatloos....

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

P.L. TRAVERS' TIME LORD

I've got no argument with that.

Had I known about this argument back in the mid-1970s, maybe I would have asked P.L. Travers about this when she spoke to my Children's Literature class at UConn....
