TWO FOR TUESDAY - REUNION RECASTAWAYS OF THE IDOJ

I DREAM OF JEANNIE… FIFTEEN YEARS LATER (1985)

I STILL DREAM OF JEANNIE (1990)

As one of the final Friday Hall of Famers in December, we inducted Major Roger Healey, who had two TV reunion movies which put him over top in his qualifying tally.  And luckily the lack of participation by Larry Hagman doesn’t deter the inclusion of the movies in the main Toobworld.

Because Jeannie has magical powers, I can keep the reunion movies in the main Toobworld even though Colonel Anthony Nelson was a recastaway.  I have some splainin to do about that, which has been revised over time… thanks to another TV show that came along later in the Toobworld timeline.

Here’s my original theory:

As Samantha Stephens did with her husband Darrin, Jeannie magically altered her husband’s physical appearance without anybody else noticing the change, not even her evil twin “sister” Jeannie II.  Roger Healey was not affected by the recasting and so he saw Tony as he always looked.

The same holds true for the son of Tony and Jeannie.  Because TJ Nelson became a recastaway, Jeannie must have had a good reason to alter her son’s appearance.  Perhaps it was to purge his body of some fatal illness.

But then again, it could be Jeannie wasn’t even involved in either of those recastaways....

Here's my new theory:

It could be that the DNA combinations for both Tony and TJ were altered when the timeline of Earth Prime-Time went through a major reboot beginning in the ‘Primeval eras.  That would be the fault of future Hall of Famer Helen Cutter.

In the new timeline, for whatever reason (and I don’t want to know it ::shudder::), it was a different sperm which fertilized the eggs of Tony’s mother and Jeannie herself.  But despite the change in their looks, the lives of Tony and his son TJ still played out as they did in the original timeline.

So even though Tony now looked like an Army surgeon from the Korean Conflict of thirty years before, he still splashed down on that Pacific island where he found Jeannie’s bottle.  (We know he now looked like Wayne Rogers even back then because we saw that first meeting play out again in that first TV movie.)  In the new timeline caused by Helen Cutter, the participation by Hagman was wiped out of existence.  Luckily the Powers That Be who control our viewing of Toobworld have always given precedence to the original Toobworld timeline.

As for TJ, the only known difference to his revised life, besides becoming a recastaway, was that he now preferred to be known as “Tony Nelson Jr.”.

BCnU!
