When Mr. Magoo portrayed "Don Quixote", he did so as an actor playing a
role; he was not actually the errant knight. It's a conceit adopted by the book
of "Man Of La Mancha" as well.....
The book took six months to slog through, while Magoo brought out its essence in less than an hour. My kids also know the story of Don Quixote because of a show that was made before I was born. Magoo magic lives on.
