EASTER EGG HUNT

I realize Easter was over a week ago - shut up.

Anyhoo......

NBC ran a promotional tie-in to not only Easter (which doesn't pay the bills) but also to the new movie "Hop" (which does). Over the course of the Thursday night comedies, on the eve before the movie's premiere, each sitcom had an Easter Egg "hidden" in the episode. Apparently there were prizes if you could find them all......

Out of the six episodes, I only found four of them. I watched 'Perfect Couples' and 'Outsourced' twice and never found their Easter Eggs.

But here are the four that I found.....

'COMMUNITY'
It was behind the "Pulp Fiction" briefcase on the table, glowing with the same golden light that emanated from inside the case in the movie.

'PARKS & RECREATION'
It's there on the bureau at the bed&breakfast, given its own spotlight from the lamp to make sure we saw it. But not all the shows made it that easy to find.

'THE OFFICE'
The Easter Egg was on the far end of Oscar's table (stage right, audience left), a dull purple dye job that made it harder to spot.

'30 ROCK'
This time it was placed in the background, on Jonathan's desk in the outer office.......

But there may have been a ringer egg earlier at Devon Banks' apartment.  That looks like an egg to me on the coffee table in the background.....

If you actually watched the NBC Thursday night line-up that week in order to find the Easter Eggs, please get in touch with me and let me know where they were in 'Outsourced' and 'Perfect Couples'. Thanks!

By the way, just in case you were wondering, I don't consider these to be links between the four series.  I realize I play fast and loose with Toobworld connections, so many of them theoretical, but this is too weak a reason to connect four.......

BCnU!

I realize that it's been a while, but I just watched perfect Couples on DVR and found the egg. I had to watch twice, too. It's near the end of the episode, when Vance goes to get a cowboy hat. It is yellow and is on the right side of the screen, on a shelf of hats, and appears to be propping a hat up.

didn't NBC (or anyone) ever release the answers after the contest closed? i have watched outsourced off DVR 7 or 8 times now and STILL can't find it!

there's several scenes with piles of FRUIT...i suppose one or two of those could have been swapped out in favor of an egg, but nothing certain. also, there's a pink BLUR on a shelf over rajiv's left shoulder (right of screen) in a scene toward the end. is THAT it?

fact is, there's so MANY colorful balls/spheres/ovals in lots of scenes, that nothing really distinguishes itself as being an "egg" per se....

hey, they showed the egg episode community tonight, and guess what - NO EGG!!

i was kind of wondering about this. so the egg must have been added at a very late stage, and not included in the official/syndicated version. i assume DVD copies will be SANS OEUF....

funny thing, tho, the screen also switched from letterbox to fullscreen around the critical scenes. as if they had to actually RESHOOT the scene, but then edited in the wrong one...?? WASSUPWIDDAT?!

now i wish i still had a copy of the egg version to check whether it was like this in the original. anyone still have it?

speaking of which, isn't PIXEL SUBTRACTION pretty straightforward in video editors? it would be extremely easy to find the egg (back to OUTSOURCED here) by subtracting the rerun (if ever!) copy from the first-run copy. you'd wind up with 22 straight mins of blackscreen, with 10 or 20 seconds of the bright coloured egg all by its lonesome.

    i'm jus sayin'....

me again. well, i DID still have a copy of "egg community" and, indeed, it was letterboxed the full way thru.

in "no-egg community", otoh, somewhere in the middle of jeff talking to abed i noticed it was full-screen. and also when brita was yelling at troy/chang for opening the briefcase. however, right then they all turned around to witness the briefcase on fire, the screen *SNAPPED* back to letterbox.

i must admit, i wasn't paying all that much attn to it UNTIL it snapped back, so i cannot say whether the full screen had been on and off, or straight thru from the beginning, or what. all i know is that it *ENDED* with that briefcase fire.

either way, it was definitely full-screen when she was YELLING at them, and that wasn't even an egg scene, so it's not like full-screen flashed on during the exact scenes where the egg showed up. my guess (without having a copy to review) is that it was full screen for a few mins AROUND the egg scenes, but not so tightly edited.

in any case, if outsourced is ever released/rerun, perhaps the letterbox/full-screen disparity will point us right to the egg scene!

i'd check hulu, but i'm on dialup.... :(
