In Toobworld, Death is not only an embodied personage, but there's a whole family of them. It's not just a matter of Death being able to change its appearance to suit the situation or its own whims, but there's a different Death serving various sections of the world. And on other planets as well. And since they're a family, that means there is reproduction going on. (See 'Mulberry'.....)
It'll be interesting to see how this new 'Torchwood' story affects that premise.....
