TRIVIAL TV = TRIAL TV

One TV network in Toobworld that doesn't exist in the real world is Trial TV. We used to have Court TV, but now I think it's called Tru-TV.

Trial TV has been around since the late 1990's and it's still going strong. Recently, the consultant for the CBI by the name of Patrick Jane, who's sometimes called 'The Mentalist', was on a memorable episode of 'You've Been Served' starring Karen Cross, in which he revealed the true murderer of another killer (using candles held by the audience.)
Back in 1999, Trial TV reported on the upcoming trial of a mobster named Michael Sanricci, which was supposed to be presided over by Judge Harold Wabash. As it turns out, they were in cahoots together and thanks to the manipulations by a modern-day Paladin known only as Mr. Chapel, they both ended up dead.

Here are some frame grabs from both reports by Trial TV:

The network serves as a trivial link between 'The Mentalist' and 'Vengeance Unlimited'......

AS SEEN ON TV: SEAN O'KEEFE

SEAN O'KEEFE

AS SEEN ON:
'Robot Chicken'

AS VOICED BY:
Dan Milano

By John Springer
TODAY.com contributor
Former NASA Administrator and Secretary of the Navy Sean O'Keefe was dazed and confused when he regained consciousness, unaware for a moment that the single-engine DeHavilland DHC-3T he and eight others had been flying en route to a remote Alaskan fishing camp had just crashed into the side of a mountain.

Pinned in the wreckage, in tremendous pain, O'Keefe surveyed his surroundings. The plane’s configuration had changed dramatically. No longer where there were two orderly rows of tan, canvas-covered seats; all had been thrown violently forward upon impact, including the seat containing 86-year-old Ted Stevens, the former longtime Republican United States senator from Alaska.

O'Keefe checked Stevens for a pulse, and found none.

"I realized my friend had passed away," O'Keefe, still wearing a neck brace, told NBC's Ann Curry in an exclusive interview which aired on NBC’s 'Dateline' October 22, 2010.

SKED ALERT! "GAME OF THRONES"

You may be shocked to read this, but I may be looking forward more to 'Game Of Thrones' than I am for the new season of 'Doctor Who'. But if you knew me better, you'd know that the realm of Fantasy has always been my first love in reading materials, definitely reaching back to reading "The Hobbit" in tenth grade. (But if it counts, then I'd say it can be traced back to reading Edith Hamilton's work on Greek mythology back in sixth grade, which didn't make Sister Theresa Gertrude happy....)

I've got two long-playing videos from HBO to share with you, dealing with this epic new mini-series.

First up, the sneak preview - the first fourteen minutes or so of the first episode.....

And here's an even longer video with a lot of inside info behind the scenes about the making of the show......

I'll be writing more about "Game Of Thrones" as the series progresses, but I'm pretty sure that the series can remain in the main TV Universe of Earth Prime-Time.  It won't be taking place on Earth, however, but instead on Earth's orbital twin, Mondas (from 'Doctor Who')!

Enjoy!

"Game Of Thrones" premieres on HBO April 17th.....

THE DOCTOR IS IN.....?

A big deal has been made over the fact that 'Doctor Who' was filmed partly in the United States this year.

Well, that's the thing about the Doctor, isn't it? You never know where he's going to show up......

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE BEATLES!

According to the calendar, it's Spring, not that you could tell from the weather map. And for some reason, that puts me in mind for some Beatles.......

As filtered through two of the most iconic television shows from the 1960's, of course!

Both of those videos are going out to my friend Ken Natter, wherever he is.....

AS SEEN ON TV: SIR MICHAEL CAINE

MICHAEL CAINE

AS SEEN ON:
'Saturday Night Live'

AS PLAYED BY:
Tom Hanks

Sir Michael Caine has been imitated on 'Saturday Night Live' twice in the past - once by Phil Hartman (which was seen as part of a two week salute to Phil Hartman here at Inner Toob) and by Seth Meyer in another sketch.

But they're not the only ones who like to imitate the actor whose real name is Maurice Mickelwhite.....

What I want to know is: most of these people use variations of the phrase "Not many people know that....." as sort of a touchstone to get in touch with their inner Michael Caine.  So where did that come from?  Is it a well-known line from one of his movies?

THE BETTE DAVIS SHORT STORY

I shared some videos about and/or starring Bette Davis on Thursday for my friend Michael's birthday.  But I did have one more, a story about her by Martin Short......

"DEAR MR. BURNS"

I just wanted to get the word out about Ray William Johnson's new video channel at YouTube - "Your Favorite Martian". He's got about six music videos up now and I thought this one was a good representation as it's Tooniverse-oriented.....

SCULLYVISION

Dustin is the son of my friend and former co-worker Patrick. Thanks to Patrick, I was in the audience for David Letterman's 100th episode of 'The Late Show with David Letterman'. You can see Patrick and me down near the front as David Letterman hands us photo-copies of his vacation picture.....

Anyhoo....

Patrick is a rabid fan of 'The Odd Couple' and the acorn didn't fall far from the tree in that regard.....
